Cinco de Mayo, what is it you might ask? Cinco de Mayo is a very important day to MANY Chicanos (or Chicanas) and Mexicans, Cinco de Mayo was the day the small meager Mexican army (led by General Zaragoza) fought and won against the mighty forces of the French (They won the battle on May 5th 1862, but lost the war) Cinco de Mayo is important because it symbolizes inspiration for Independence and freedom for the Mexicans and the Chicanos.
I was pretty sure it was a national holiday, but if its not it should because it means SO much to people of Mexican heritage.
